Covid-19 Local Numbers Basically Flat

The numbers concerning confirmed Coronavirus numbers are staying basically flat in the Texarkana area.

That good news from the updates from the Joint Operations Center for Bowie and Cass Counties in Northeast Texas, and the Miller County Emergency Operations Center in Southwest Arkansas.

Miller County reports 35 total confirmed cases of Covid-19 with 27 recoveries for a total of 8 current confirmed cases. There has been one death reported in the county connected to Coronavirus.

Bowie County reporting 104 total confirmed Covid-19 cases, with 50 recoveries for a total 54 current cases of Coronavirus. There have been 10 reported deaths in the county associated with the virus.

Cass County has a total of 19 confirmed Covid-19 cases, with 13 recoveries for a total of 6 current cases. There have been no deaths associated with Coronavirus in the county.

No-cost COVID 19 testing will be offered in Texarkana, Texas and New Boston, Texas tomorrow, Wednesday, May 6, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. An appointment is required.

To register for an appointment, call 512-883-2400 or visit https://txcovidtest.org/  To be tested, a patient must be experiencing one of the following symptoms: Fever and/or chills, Cough (Dry or Productive), Fatigue, Body aches/muscle or joint pain, Shortness of Breath, Sore Throat, Headaches, Nausea/Vomiting/Diarrhea, Nasal Congestion, or Loss of Taste and/or Smell.

Testing locations will be at 4102 Gibson Lane, Texarkana, Texas (the old Excel ER location) and #1 Trail Head Park Plaza in New Boston, Texas (the Pavilion at Trail Head Park just west of the Three Bostons’ Museum).

Residents in Bowie and Cass County are urged to continue following Governor Abbott’s Executive Orders and following CDC guidelines for social distancing, handwashing, and sanitizing.
